Distribution

Western Andes in Colombia and Ecuador.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species, which in the past has been considered a part of Golden-breasted Fruiteater.

Habitat

Moist montanes.

Behaviour

Prefers to be alone or a pair when foraging in low levels.
