Identification

27 cm

  • Dark olive brown above
  • Warm rusty brown below
  • Dark brown head
  • Indistinct black line below eye
  • Dark brown bare skin round eyes
  • Purple and violet iridescent hindneck and nape
  • Rusty breast and vineous-grey upper belly
  • Brown vent
  • Bronze brown tail with dark grey terminal band
  • Buff undertail-coverts
  • Red orange iris
  • Purple red legs
  • Black bill

Distribution

Southeast Philippines (Mindanao and Basilan).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.
Formerly considered conspecific with Tawitawi Brown Dove under the name Dark-eared Brown Dove.

Habitat

Mangroves and lowland forests.
