Sporophila palustris

Location: Esteros del Ibera, Corrientes, Argentina

Identification

White throat, cheeks and upper breast, reddish-brown underparts and rump. Grey neck and crown, dark grey wings and tail with a white patch at the base of the primaries. Females are dull brown.


Distribution

Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

Wet grassland and marshes

Behaviour

Diet: is exclusively the seedheads of grasses.
Voice: high-pitched whistles and chiuu sounds
