Identification
13.5 cm. The only White-eye on Malaita.
- Olive-green top and side of head and upperparts
- Slight fuscous wash on crown
- Ash-grey lores
- Bare area around eye, no white eyering
- Blackish-brown flight-feathers and tail, broadly margined pyrite-yellow
- Pale olive-green yellow on throat, breast and flanks, faintly barred; becoming yellow on belly and undertail-coverts
Sexes similar. Juvenile undescribed.
Distribution
Endemic to Malaita Island, eastern Solomon Islands.
Uncommon to fairly common in its small range.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
Habitat
Found in gardens, scurb, primary forest and secondary growth.
Occurs from sea-level up to 1100m.
Behaviour
No information about breeding, diet or movements.
