Identification

Distribution

Endemic to the northern Philippines (Luzon, Polillo, Catanduanes and Marinduque)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.
It was formerly included in Greater Flameback (the enlarged species called Chrysocolaptes lucidus)

Habitat

Forests.

Behaviour

Frequents the canopy and middle story. Usualy in small noisy groups up to ten, even at nest. Sometimes solitary.
