Identification
An extinct species from the south-western Pacific.
Specimens have lengths between 20 - 25cm.
- Glossy black plumage
- Heavy, long bill, slightly curved
- Longer tail than other Aplonis-Starlings
- Red eye
- Bill and legs black
Distribution
Endemic to Kosrae Island (Caroline Group, Federate States of Micronesia) in the south-western Pacific.
Already rare in 1827. Expeditions in 1880 and 1930 failed to find any birds.

A monotypic species.

Unknown
Behaviour
Used to feed on small mammals, lizards and insects. Usually seen singly.
