Overview
Eastern Sierras, California. The most interesting place on the Planet is the best way to describe the undiscovered sites and activities along highway 178, a 95 mile stretch from Buck Owens Crystal Palace in Bakersfield to Death Valley National Park. The 178 Corridor is the only place where visitors can experience five major Bio-Regions, with all of its splendor, including five Top Birding Spots in the U.S.

The Kern Valley Nature Preserve is one of the best riparian bio-regions in the U.S.. I have a small house from which I have photographed several species of birds, just from the kitchen window. Everything from humming birds to eagles. This area is a stop over for many migratory birds. Pros
- Accessable
- good camping or motel sites
- good hiking.
Cons
- Hot and windy in summer.
