This is a polytypic species[1] consisting of 3 subspecies.

  • Mountains of western Java (Mount Karang and Mount Pangrango-Gedeh)
  • H. j. javanica
  • Mountains of central and eastern Java
  • H. j. elongata
  • Mountains of extreme eastern Java (Idjen Plateau) and Bali
