Antrostomus ekmani

Identification

26-30 cm

  • Blackish-brown upper­parts
  • Buff throat collar
  • Pale spots on breast surrounded by narrow blackish borders, giving a somewhat pale impression
  • Buff tips to outer tail feather in female, white in male
  • Lacks white in wing

Distribution

Caribbean: endemic to Hispaniola

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

The former Greater Antillean Nightjar was split into this species and Cuban Nightjar.

Habitat

Woodland including pines up to 1850 m asl, but most frequent in mid elevation.
