Formerly placed in the genus Hemignathus.
Subspecies
Chlorodrepanis virens has two subspecies:[1]
- C. v. wilsoni
- Forests of Maui
- C. v. virens
- Forests of Hawaii
Habitat
Behaviour
Diet
They have a varied diet, consisting of nectar, as well as caterpillars and other soft bodied invertebrates.
Breeding
They breed throughout the year. They are monogamous, the pair remaining together for several years.
