Distribution
Endemic to Southeast Asia: found in Indochina, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Borneo, Malay Peninsula, Brunei, Indonesia, Greater Sundas, Sumatra
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are 3 subspecies[1]:
- T. c. criniger:
- Malay Peninsula, Tioman Island and eastern Sumatra
- T. c. sericeus:
- Western Sumatra, Batu Islands, Lingga Archipelago and Musala Island
- T. c. viridis:
- Borneo and North Natuna Islands
Habitat
Broadleaved evergreen forest up to 915m and forest edges
Behaviour
Diet
Omninorous; their diet consisting of fruit, caterpillars, beetles, etc.
Breeding
There is little information available; their breeding season runs from February to August.
Vocalisation
Call: their call includes a whistle. They are generally quieter than other bulbuls.
