Taxonomy
This is one of the seven Sunbirds that have recently been moved into the genus Chalcomitra from the genus Nectarinia.
Subspecies
There are 3 subspecies[1]
- C. r. stangerii:
- Bioko Islands (Gulf of Guinea)
- C. r. crossensis:
- C. r. rubescens:
Habitat
Forest edges and clearings, farms, plantations, village gardens.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of nectar, small insects, pollen and small fruit.
