Identification
13–14 cm
Distribution
Found in northern South America: Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, the Guianas and Brazil.
Taxonomy
Four subspecies accepted[1]:
- C. c. cinerascens:
- C. c. immaculata:
- Eastern Venezuela to the Guianas and north-eastern Amazonian Brazil
- C. c. sclateri:
- Eastern Peru to north-western Bolivia and south-western Amazonian Brazil
- C. c. iterata:
- South-eastern Amazonian Brazil and north-eastern Bolivia (northern Santa Cruz)
Habitat
Tropical lowland forest.
Behaviour
Forages in vine tangles in the canopy, where it is usually first detected by its loud song.
Diet
There is little published information. Their main diet consists of a variety of insects and spiders.
