Distribution

North-western South America: found in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru

There are 2 subspecies^[1]:

• P. c. laubmanni:

• Mountains of northern Colombia to coastal cordillera of northern Venezuela

• P. c. chrysogaster:

• Andes of south-western Colombia (Nariño) to Ecuador and southern Peru

Habitat

Cloud and dry forest, scrub, gardens and agricultural areas. Observed at heights around 1650-2350 m (one source states up to 3400 m in Ecuador).

Behaviour

Diet

They eat a lot of different things, primarily seeds, berries and also nectar.
