• Black cap
• Broad yellow collar

Distribution

Central and South America: found in Panama and Colombia.

Subspecies

Four subspecies are recognized¹:

• M. v. vitellinus:

• Lowlands of Panama to north-western Colombia (south to south-western Cauca)

• M. v. amitinus:

• Escudo de Veraguas Island (off northern Panama)

• M. v. milleri:

• Northern Colombia in Sinú and lower Cauca valleys

• M. v. viridiventris:

• Western Colombia west of western Andes and east side in upper Cauca Valley

Habitat

Rain forest and forest borders.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists of small fruits and insects.
