  • Black head and throat
  • Red hind collar
  • Blue upper wing
  • White underparts

Distribution

Colombia (rare), Ecuador, and Peru.

Taxonomy

This species has formerly been placed in genus Tangara.

Subspecies

Two subspecies are recognized in this species1:

  • I. p. pulcherrimus:
  • I. p. aureinucha:
  • Subtropical western Ecuador

Habitat

Wet forests and forest edges.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet is thought to consist of berries, nectar and insects.
