Identification

13·5–14 cm

  • Heavy bill

Distribution

Found on the Palau Archipelago (Babelthuap, Urukthapel and Peleliu) in the Pacific.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Formerly placed in genus Rukia.

Habitat

Limestone forests, introduced tangan-tangan thickets.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet consists of insects such as ants, caterpillars, nectar and fruit.
