Eastern Africa: Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi
Southern Africa: Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa

Taxonomy

There are 5 subspecies^[1]:

• C. t. sharpei:

• Guinea to Togo, Cameroon and Central African Republic

• C. t. pallidogriseus:

• Nigeria

• C. t. tristigma:

• North-eastern Zaire to southern Sudan, Burundi, Ethiopia and northern Tanzania

• C. t. lentiginosus:

• Western Angola to Namibia and western Cape Province

• C. t. granosus:

• South-eastern Zaire to Zambia, southern Tanzania and eastern Cape Province
