Distribution

From Central to East Africa
Central Africa: Nigeria to Cameroon, Gabon and Democratic Republic of Congo
Eastern Africa: Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda and just into Tanzania
African Islands: Gulf of Guinea Islands, Bioko (Fernando Po)

Taxonomy

Subspecies

Two subspecies are recognized[1].

White-tailed Alethe was recently split from this species.

Habitat

Moist lowland forests.
