- Cisticola lugubris
Identification
12-14 cm, male > female
Mostly brownish grey with black stripes on mantle and back (but not rump which is plain), rufous wing panel, black subterminal band on graduated tail, and brownish head and crown.
Distribution
Africa: found in Ethiopia and Eritrea
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Rufous-winged Cisticola, Coastal Cisticola, Ethiopian Cisticola, and Luapula Cisticola have all been treated as subspecies of Winding Cisticola in the past.
Habitat
Highlands (1500-2600 m asl): ranges from edges of marshes to montane heath and bracken
Behaviour
Mainly feeds on insects
