Identification
12 cm
Upper side mainly buffy-grey with dark brown stripes on mantle and back, but unstriped rump. Wings brown with some reddish brown edges forming a wing panel. Tail is grey-brown with dark subterminal band. Underside including face mostly cream, crown is reddish brown.
Distribution
Africa: Coastal southern Somalia to Kenya and northern Tanzania
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Rufous-winged Cisticola, Coastal Cisticola, Ethiopian Cisticola, and Luapula Cisticola have all been treated as subspecies of Winding Cisticola in the past.
Habitat
Marshes to dry scrubs and edges of farmed areas.
Behaviour
Food consists of smaller invertebrates
