Western Africa: Guinea, Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, DRC, Angola
Eastern Africa: Uganda, Rwanda
African Islands: Gulf of Guinea Islands, Bioko (Fernando Po)

Taxonomy

Some authorities place this species in Chloropicus.

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies[1]:

  • D. e. elliotii:
  • D. e. johnstoni:

An additional 2 subspecies (gabela and kupeensis) are not recognised by all authorities[2].
