Juvenile - olive tinge to upperparts

Distribution

East Asia: found in Russia, Siberia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, China and India
Southeast Asia: Indochina and Myanmar

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 3 subspecies[1]:

  • P. f. fuscatus:
  • P. f. robustus:
  • Northern China (south of Gobi Desert) to northern Sichuan; winters to Indochina

Habitat

Bogs, wet meadows, riverbanks, scrub, mudflats and suburbs.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes insects and berries.

Breeding

It nests in low vegetation and 5-6 eggs are laid.
