Distribution
South-eastern Australia (east-central Queensland to southern Victoria and south-eastern South Australia).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Open forest and woodlands and well-treed grassland, orcherds, parks and gardens. Widespead, but patchy and generally scarce, suburban backyards.
Behaviour
Breeding
Globe shaped nests are built. The 4-6 eggs are incubated by the female for 14 days. The young fledge 21 days later.
Diet
The diet includes grass seeds, leaves and insects.
