Juvenile - browner head and throat
Unmistakeable, with the heavy, yellowish bill, grey head, and crest.
Distribution
Asia: found in China, Tibet, India and Bangladesh
Southeast Asia: Indochina, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand
Quite common on Doi An Khang, Northern Thailand.

Subspecies
There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- S. c. canifrons:
- Southern Assam (south of the Brahmaputra) to hills of western Burma
- S. c. ingrami:
Habitat
Bird of forests edge and secondary growth, above 1,200 m.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes seeds, fruit and insects.
Breeding
It builds a cup shaped nest from vine tendrils.
