- Short tail with green inner feathers, black outer feathers with rufous base and white tip
Similar species
Peruvian Sheartail female is very similar, however, the most buffy area usually is the throat
Distribution
Northern Chile in lowland river valleys; probably extinct from Peru.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Dry shrubland and rural gardens, scrub and thickets along river valleys within desert regions.
Behaviour
The diet includes nectar.
