Identification

9–11 cm (3½-4¼ in)

  • Greyish-brown upperparts
  • Pale eyes

Distribution

Australia: found in the arid and semi-arid interior of southern Australia; winters to coast in west.

Taxonomy

This is generally considered a monotypic species[1] (subspecies augusta is not generally recognised)[2].

Habitat

Dense forest, gardens.

Behaviour

Diet

Their main diet consists of spiders, beetles and other insects.
