- Nonnula amaurocephala
Identification
14-15 cm
- Rufous bristles around bill
- Rufous on nape, entire head and most of underparts, becoming whitish on central belly and undertail coverts
- Upperside including wings and tail is dull olive brown
- Bill is dark with blue-gray at base, legs and feet are dark.
- Iris red in adult and brown in immature
Distribution
South America: found only in north-western Brazil north of the Amazon and west of Río Negro.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Seasonally flooded woodland where it is found in understory. Occasionally found in secondgrowth.
Behaviour
Very little is known; insects are expected to be important food items.
Supposedly a quiet species not moving much so easy to overlook.
