Distribution
[[South America]: found in the western Andes of Colombia (Antioquia to Cauca).
Taxonomy
Subspecies
Two subspecies are recognized[1].
- D. g. boylei
- Known with certainty from the northern end of the Western Andes of Colombia (Cerro Paramillo and Páramo Frontino, Antioquia); presumably occurs farther south, but the subspecies has not been determined for most localities within the range of the species, which extends from Antioquia south to Cauca
- D. g. gloriosissima
- Known with certainty from the southern end of the Western Andes of Colombia (Cauca); presumably occurs farther north, but the subspecies has not been determined for most localities within the range of the species, which extends from Antioquia south to Cauca
Habitat
High-altitude shrubland and moist montane forests, 3,000-3,750 m asl.

Diet
The diet includes insects and nectar.
