Found locally in northeastern Brazil (Serra de Baturité in Ceará, Pernambuco, and Chapada Diamantina in northern Bahia)
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
It was formerly included in Rufous Gnateater.
Habitat
Forest understory and bushes.
Behaviour
They build a cup-shaped nest in a tree, made of sticks and moss. 2 buff-coloured eggs, oval or slightly conical in shape, are laid.
The diet includes insects.
