Genus: Stachyris
Description
This genus contains almost 30 medium-sized Babblers from SE-Asia. They have in common:
- Relatively short, rounded wings
- Wings longer than tail
- Strong legs
- Stiff forehead feathers
- Medium-length straight bill
- Oval nares
Taxonomy
Stachyris is a genus in the Family Timaliidae.
Some species from the Philippines which were formerly included here have been moved to the genera Sterrhoptilus, Dasycrotapha and Zosterornis. Other species from southeast Asia are sometimes separated in genus Stachyridopsis or in Cyanoderma.
