Genus: Pyrgilauda
Description
Five species of Snowfinches (or Ground-Sparrows) from Asia.
They occupy an alpine steppe habitat and descend to lower levels in winter. They are also more adapted to the ground than the other members of Montifringilla.
Taxonomy
Pyrgilauda is a genus in the family Passeridae.
It's often included in Montifringilla. The White-rumped Snowfinch is now placed in the genus Onychostruthus but the differences seem to be marginal.
