Genus: Cnemophilus
Description
Two species of Satinbirds or Cnemophilus from New Guinea.
They have rather small, weak feet and a weak bill which obligates them to a frugivorous diet.
Like the Birds-of-paradise they are polygynous and sexually dimorphic.
Taxonomy
Cnemophilus is a genus in the family Cnemophilidae.
It was formerly placed within the Birds-of-paradise but new studies have shown it to be closer to the Bowerbirds and quite distant to the Birds-of-paradise.
