South America: found in Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil.

- B. l. phaeonota:
- Central Brazil (known from one specimen from Rio Solimões)
Habitat
Gallery forest, savanna woodland, forests near rivers.
Behaviour
Breeding
It nests in burrows.
Diet
The diet includes insects.
