Western Africa: Mauritania, Senegambia, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Mali, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea and DRC
Eastern Africa: Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Uganda

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 4 subspecies^[1]:

• E. a. nigeriae:

• Gambia to Nigeria and northern Cameroon

• E. a. vulpecula:

• Cameroon, southern Chad and adjacent northern Central African Republic

• E. a. affinis:

• South Sudan, northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, northern Uganda, and northwestern Kenya; population in southeastern Sudan and northwestern Ethiopia presumably also this subspecies

• E. a. omoensis:

• Southern Ethiopia

Habitat

Moist forests.
