Eastern Africa: Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies^[1]:

• P. c. arizela:

• Guinea-Bissau and Sierra Leone to Ghana

• P. c. caroli:

• Benin to Nigeria, Cameroon, Angola, Kenya and north-western Tanzania

Habitat

Moist mature forest.

Behaviour

They nest in cavities in dead trees.
