  • Chestnut crown
  • Greyish upperparts
  • Paler grey throat and breast
  • Yellow belly
  • Largish flat bill
  • Long Rictal bristles

Distribution

Asia: found in China, Tibet, Nepal, India, Eastern Himalayas, Bhutan
Southeast Asia: Indochina, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam

Taxonomy

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies[1].:

  • T. h. hodgsoni:
  • T. h. tonkinensis:
  • South-western China (south-eastern Yunnan) to northern Laos and north-western Tonkin (Vietnam)

Habitat

Dense damp broadleaf evergreen montane forests. Bamboo thickets and undergrowth at forest edges.

Behaviour

Their diet consists almost entirely of insects, which they catch by hovering or flycatching from twigs.
