Identification

15 cm (6 in)
Male

  • Bright blue upperparts
    • darker on upper wing and facial mask
  • Orange-rufous breast and flanks

Female

  • Brown upperparts
  • Rufous rump
  • Pale eye-ring
  • Rufous-buff underparts

Distribution

South-east Asia: found in the montane forests of Borneo.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Lowland and montane rainforest. Jungle. Usually between 600-1600 m.

Behaviour

Diet

They flycatch from a perch and also by hovering. Actual prey is not known.
