Identification

12 cm (4¾ in)
Breeding Male

  • Yellow forehead and crown
  • Black lores , cheek, ear-coverts, chin and throat

Distribution

Western Africa: found in south-eastern Cameroon, Gabon and the and banks of Congo River system in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Grassy areas of rainforest, near rivers.

Behaviour

Their diet consists mostly seeds, though it is believed they also eat some insects.
