Identification
25·5–28 cm (10-11 in)
- Blue chin and lower belly
- Brown breast
Distribution
Central America: found in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1], which is the only member of its genus.
Habitat
Humid mountainous pine and evergreen forests. Observed at heights around 2000 m.
Behaviour
Diet
Their main diet consists of insects, particularly beetles, with the addition of some fruit.
Breeding
They excavate a tunnel in an earth bank.
