Western Africa: Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Congo, Angola
Eastern Africa: Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania
African Islands: Gulf of Guinea Islands, Bioko (Fernando Po)
Taxonomy
This is one of the seven Sunbirds that have recently been moved into the genus Cyanomitra from the genus Nectarinia.
Subspecies
There are 3 subspecies[1]:
- C. c. magnirostrata:
- Sierra Leone and Liberia to Ivory Coast, Ghana and Togo
- C. c. octaviae:
- C. c. cyanolaema:
- Bioko Island (Gulf of Guinea)
Habitat
Forests, more open forested areas, gardens and cultivated areas, savanna gallery forests.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of insects, seeds and small fruits.
