19–22 cm (7½-8¾ in)

  • Glossy green upperparts
  • Chestnut underparts
  • Blue cheeks, malar and crown
  • Black upper malar, yellow lower
  • Yellow bare eyering,


South America: found in the humid lowlands of north-eastern Peru, Bolivia and Brazil south of the Amazon.


This is a monotypic species[1].


Undisturbed Várzea (seasonally flooded forest) - and forest interior.



Their diet consists of beetles, wasps, bees, ants, flies.
