Identification

- Straight black bill

- Dark green overall plumage
- Blue forehead and throat
- Bluish-black forked tail

Female has orange underparts
Distribution
South America: found in the Andes of southern Bolivia and north-western Argentina.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Temerate areas, generally between 2000 and 2500 m, though may be seen as low as 1500 m and up to 3400 m.
Behaviour
Diet
There is not much information available, but but as they have been observed feeding on low growing flowers, is likely to include nectar and possibly insects.
