Black-billed Parrot - BirdForum Opus

Amazona agilis


25 cm (9¾ in)

  • Green overall plumage (lighter underparts)
  • Yellowish-green undertail coverts
  • Red flecks on forehead
  • Blackish ear coverts
  • Red wing patch




This is a monotypic species[1].


Wet limestone forests and mountainous rainforest; generall at 500-1600 m, but has been observed at 2000 m.



They nest 18 m or more up in tree holes or hollow limbs. Their clutch consists of 2 eggs.


The diet consists of fruits, nuts and berries, blossoms, leaf buds, guava and ripe bananas.
