Identification

  • White belly, lower rump and throat
  • Thin black band across the chest
  • Black tail, neck and wings
  • Chestnut back, upper wing and shoulders
  • Black eye and broad bill
  • Legs and feet yellow

Male has a black head
Female head is dark grey

Distribution

Indonesia: found in Timor, (eastern Lesser Sundas)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Lowland monsoon forests and hill forests up to 1200 m.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes invertebrates.

Vocalisation

The calls consist of soft whistles.
