South America: found in Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are 3 subspecies[1]:
- H. s. insignis:
- Western Amazonian Brazil (Rio Uaupés region)
- H. s. stresemanni:
- North-western Brazil (lower Rio Negro to Rio Solimões)
- H. s.undulatus:
Habitat
Humid Amazonian lowland forests.
Behaviour
Diet
Little has been published. The diet probably includes ants. It is thought their foraging behaviour would be similar to Red-billed Woodcreeper
