Distribution
Great Plains of North America and southern central Canada, Winters to south-western US and northern Mexico.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Tall grass prairies.
Behaviour
Breeding
The nest is an open cup in a well-hidden grassy location on the ground. The two to six greyish white eggs, have brown spots and blotches.
Diet
The diet includes insects in summer and seeds in winter.
