Identification

Male:
- Black face patches
- Yellow crown and upper breast
- Yellow underparts
Female:
- Black head
- Bright yellow underparts
- Dark upperparts with yellow streaks on wings
Variation
It seems that in parts of the range one may encounter birds with pale bill and bluish eyes[2]

Africa:
Western Africa: Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo
Eastern Africa: South Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi

Habitat
Cultivated areas, open woods, forest margins and in towns throughout highland areas.
Behaviour
Diet
Their main diet consists of insects, but fruit and seeds are also eaten.
