Identification
- Pale greenish-yellow bill and frontal shield
- Greenish-blue wing coverts
- Brown back and tail
- White throat and underparts
- Yellow legs.
Distribution
Eastern Colombia to southern Venezuela, the Guianas, northern Argentina and Brazil.
Taxonomy
A monotypic species.[1]
Habitat
Freshwater marshes with floating vegetation, also marshy river and lakeside edges.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes invertebrates, insects and seeds taken from water and vegetation.
Breeding
The nest is an open leafy cup hidden in dense marshy vegetation. The four or five eggs are incubated by both adults.
