Distribution
Andes of southern Peru to northwestern Argentina and northern Chile.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Alkaline lakes.
Behaviour
Breeding
It nests near shallow lakes.
Diet
It forages in shallow water or on mud flats for crustacean and insects. The bill is swept from side to side in the water.
